Our Little Musician

When we first met Jack's birth mom, it was important for us to find out about her interests and natural talents. During our meetings, we found out several things including that she loved to read, was a gifted artist and that her family liked to play musical instruments.

We've already witnessed Jack's gifted drawing. He can draw beautiful hearts. He has also expressed an interest in music. Perhaps that's typical for a 2 year-old but I've heard him ham it up on a harmonica and I've been surprised that it's him and not Mike. He also likes to blow on my flute. It will probably take years for him to get the air across it just right but he shows an interest in that instrument. He also likes to play the recorder, an instrument that is easy to get air into and make a sound. And he's sat down and plucked on a guitar before.

We hope to build a new home in the next couple of years. One of the items that will be making the move is an old piano that is housed at my parents' home. I've always wanted to be able to play the piano. I took lessons several years ago and would like to do so in the future. Maybe Jack and I can get 2-for-1 lessons.

Here are several shots of our musical adventures today.

  1. So glad Jack is taking an interest in music. I, too, play the flute. Or, well, I did....haven't played in a few years :)
