China Update

*Chart taken from Rumor Queen

Wow. How time flies yet China's traditional adoption program creeps by so slowly. I thought we might get a referral in July but now it looks like August according to Rumor Queen's Wntr 2011 column. (We have a July 7 log-in date and her predictions seem to indicate that families with log-in dates of July 5 to July 13 will be included in the August batch.) The latest batch of referrals was so small it was almost ridiculous. It's hard to believe that there are so many domestic adoptions taking place in China but that is one reason the Chinese adoption authorities say this process has slowed to a trickle.

A recently conducted survey on attrition shows how many people have dropped out of the traditional program with log-in dates from July 2006. So, if 10 people were logged in for the month of July, only four families are still waiting. We are one of those families. Many families have switched to China's special needs program, other countries or have found a child through domestic adoption. We have been blessed with our two boys through the domestic adoption program. However, we still feel that there is a little girl waiting for us somewhere. We think that somewhere is China.
