Tired Of Us Already

We are taking the boys to daycare while Maggie adjusts to life at home. Yesterday morning as I was getting the boys ready, Jack asked if he was going to stay with Dixie, his daycare provider like the boys had while we were in China. My voice oozing with comfort, I told him that no, we were going to pick him up that evening. After all, we are done with our China adventures. "No!" he cried. "You need to go to China and adopt another brother and sister!"

Well, I really don't think that's going to happen but it was cute and a little sad that he insisted we needed to leave the country when I thought he was concerned that we wouldn't pick him up that evening.

Jack's First Driving Lesson

Grandpa took the ol' jalopy out for a cruise on the gravel road this afternoon. When we cruised into the hay field, he let Jack take over the wheel. My little man was so excited. He always wants to drive my car. Jack took his first driving lesson pretty seriously. I wish I had brought the camera with us.

My Sweet Boy

I'm usually the one who shuttles the kids to and from daycare, but sometimes Mike picks up the boys and when he does he often has candy like Starbursts. It's a fun "let's-go-ahead-and-spoil-your-dinner" treat that Jack and now Liam love. The other night, Mike was teasing Jack that it was more fun to come home in his car as opposed to mine. But Jack said he liked going in his momma's car and you want to know why - "because she gives me love." That's exactly what he said. Melt my heart. That was the sweetest thing I've ever heard him say.

Big Shoes to Fill

Someone had a little fun with my shoes tonight. I remember slipping on my dad's shoes when I was a kid. I thought dad had the biggest feet! Sadly, I think Jack has better looking legs than me. :(

A Lover's Spat

Jack and his (girl) friend were pretending to go camping today. He broke up with her when she stole his pink pillow. They say young love never lasts. Counseling anyone?

I'm a Model...

"Ready for my close-up."
"Hello, who's calling? Calvin Klein?"
"What you lookin' at?"

"To make something special, you just have to believe it's special." — Mr.Ping, Kung Fu Panda.

Tonight, after a thrilling (insert sarcasm here) trip to Cost Cutters, Jack was thirsty. I told him I had special water for him. To make it even better, the water was in a small plastic bottle. Big boy bottle, I told him. Later he complimented me on the water. It was so good. Snow water, he called it because the label has a mountain with snow on it. In reality, the bottle was an empty one I had at work and the water was tap water. But he believed it was special and that made all the difference.

Speaking of special, here's one big guy who is very special. Check out his new hairdo.

You Look Boo-tiful

I rarely get dressed up these days, meaning very rarely do I wear a dress or skirt. I have plenty of dress slacks and those are my preferred get-ups for work when we have interviews. Most days, I'm just happy if my pants fit and my zipper is up before I run out the door. So, when all the pants were in the wash last night, I resolved myself to shave (e-gads) and wear a skirt to church. Jack sweetly said, "You look boo-tiful mommy" when he saw me. I momentarily forgot about the razor burn. :)

Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Amen

Jack is learning his prayers! We say the "Our Father," "Hail Mary" and the "Guardian Angel" prayers at night. I was so proud of him a couple of weeks ago when he said part of the "Our Father" during mass.

As Catholics, we begin our prayer with the sign of the cross, "In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen." Tonight, Jack was snuggling with his bestie, Piggy and his good friend, Kirby. After he made the sign of the cross, Jack reached over and gave Pig and Kirby the sign of the cross too. Awe...

Finally...a Date Night!

But it's not what you think. Our church held a ministry appreciation mass and dinner tonight. And who was my date? A certain 3-year-old. Unfortunately, we only made the tail end of the mass. Then, we had to wait sooo patiently for dinner. It was tough so finally I broke down and fetched Jack some ice cream which was being served at a different table. (People were being served regular food according to their table number.) That made everything better. Jack leaned in at one point and said, "You're the best, mommy. I love you so much." It's amazing what a little ice cream will do. Jack was the youngest, best looking date there. And he behaved like a gentlmen...most of the time.

Too Big for His Britches

Sized 3T, too short for my big boy.
Too bad. He really loves his Lightning McQueen jammies. Good thing we have a different LMQ pair.

Ghost Mommy!

Someone has been watching too much Scooby Doo. Look what Jack made with a necklace today.
Very creative!

Piggy Update

Jack has been sick with a 101 - 103 fever. Grandma's updates are helping him feel better.

Note from Grandma: Piglet is waiting for you Jack, hope you get to feeling better. If you are still sick Sunday, I guess I will just have to bring Piglet up to you if that is OK.

New Set of Wheels

From Grandma:  Piglet decided to take a ride today since the weather was no nice.
I think he's trying to meet Jack half-way. Hang on Piggy. We'll see you this weekend. Watch out for Grandpa. He may put you to work!

Battle of the Best Friends

The Best Friends are gearing up to see who will continue to receive the affection of their loveable hero come this weekend when Piglet returns as a true contender.
Will it be Piglet who scored a perfect 10 on this headstand?
Or Kirby who talked Jack into giving "her" a walk tonight?
The world waits.

Daily Piggy Update

Piggy is enjoying "healthy" drinks at the G&G estate.

It's a good thing Piggy's adventures are coming to an end this weekend because somebody is starting to love on Kirby a lot. Jack decided to feed him with a baby booger sucker tonight. There were no boogers inside! It was so cute. He kept putting pretend formula in the sucker, then when Kirby was finished he would put the "bottle" in the fridge. What a love bunny!

Speechless

If you've ever met Jack, you know he's pretty verbose. The boy is hardly ever at a loss for words. During the ride to church tonight, Jack was talking about "all of us" having fun, then he started some long sentence. I was half-listening. After all, I was driving. Suddenly, Jack stopped and said, "I don't even know what I was talking about." Cracked me up. Of course, after he heard me laugh, he had to repeat it several times. A natural comedian?

Hello, Piggy?

Someone has been missing his best friend piggy this week. Jack has been a pretty strong boy, but sometimes even the toughest guys break down and call their Grandma to check on their best friend.
Piggy has been living the high life at the G&G (Grandpa and Grandma) estate.

E-mail updates from Grandma have helped.

Jack,

I just want you to know that Piglet is sleeping comfortably in a nice warm bed. I am taking good care of him.

Grandma

Another e-mail let us know that Piglet is enjoying watching cartoons.
Wonder what he's been watching?

That's For Girls

Apparently, only girls should take dance lessons. Jack likes some kind of show on TV that features four teens who sing and dance, so I suggested he take dance classes. "No, that's for girls," he replied. He seemed upset that I even considered signing him up for anything involving dance and girls.

Jack love to play ball. Today, he was itching to get out and play. I suggested we sign him up for tee ball someday. "No, that's for girls," he said. I think Mike and I were finally able to convince him that boys and girls play tee ball. Too bad you have to be kindergarten age around here to play tee ball. Jack would play better than some of the appropriately-aged kids.

Did you see the hooligan running in church after mass was over? Yes, that was Jack. I don't know why he thinks it's okay to throw caution to the wind and run down the aisles and through the pews. Most of the people were gone by then but there were still a few lingering. I looked up and saw a woman a couple of pews back laughing. I had to laugh too. Too bad it's not proper to run in church. Jack has the power to make me laugh when he's being a naughty boy.
