Finally...a Date Night!

But it's not what you think. Our church held a ministry appreciation mass and dinner tonight. And who was my date? A certain 3-year-old. Unfortunately, we only made the tail end of the mass. Then, we had to wait sooo patiently for dinner. It was tough so finally I broke down and fetched Jack some ice cream which was being served at a different table. (People were being served regular food according to their table number.) That made everything better. Jack leaned in at one point and said, "You're the best, mommy. I love you so much." It's amazing what a little ice cream will do. Jack was the youngest, best looking date there. And he behaved like a gentlmen...most of the time.

Down Home

We've had a wonderful, easy-going weekend. You can't beat 60+ degree weather. I visited my elderly friends this morning. One of my friends cracked me up. We were talking about heaven and he was complimenting me and my husband on sacrificing our time to bring the residents Holy Communion. My friend Bill said, you won't have any stopovers on your way to heaven. Meanwhile, he said he'd be happy just to make it to purgatory. Ha, I laughed. Bill is a very spiritual man. And I have my faults.

After my visits, we went to the farm to hang out with Grandpa and Grandma. The cousins enjoyed being outside, swinging, playing tag and riding bikes.
The Chesire Cat: I couldn't believe there was a cat on the roof. The camera's iris went bonkers so the cat almost looks invisible. Love it!
Meaghan demonstrates what my brothers and I used to do for fun. We would sit on the propane tank and pretend it was a horse. Before dad trimmed (butchered) the nearby tree (not in photo), we would also swing down to the ground like Tarzan. Good times.
Standing tall. Looks like a cover of a music album, right? Just needs a little cleaning up.

Too Big for His Britches

Sized 3T, too short for my big boy.
Too bad. He really loves his Lightning McQueen jammies. Good thing we have a different LMQ pair.

Weekend in Review

Wow, it's Tuesday already and I didn't do my weekend review. I'll start off with a funny thing that happened at church on Saturday night. I served as a communion minister. As I walked back to the pew, Jack ran half-way down the aisle towards me. Red faced, I ushered him into the pew where he said, "I missed you mommy." Awe...

On Sunday we visited family. Josh is on a break from serving overseas so we celebrated him being home. It was also a party to celebrate Jay's homecoming win. Here was the small shrine for the occasion.
Jay works with young children at her school. They made cards to celebrate her victory. The funniest card was a drawing of Jay shooting a deer. Four shots.
Jack loved playing basketball with cousin Chris and Uncle Dawson.
It was also fun being chased by Aunt Jay.
On Monday night, we went to Jay's basketball game, one of the last ones of the season. She's a senior. We'll miss seeing her games. Hopefully, we can make it to some of Uncle Parker's and Uncle Dawson's games. Jack quickly made a new friend. They were pretty cute together.
Go Hornets! By that time, Jack was hyper and full of sugar.
But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Luke 2:19.

I had one of these moments at the game. No, I'm no Mother Mary, but as I sat there surrounded by Jack's birth family - Great Grandpa, Great Grandma, Nana, his birth mother, her husband, their son, Aunt and Uncle - I thanked God for the joy of adoption. I thanked God for his plan to put families together in this unique way. We were all there as family brought together by a young boy. And I felt so blessed.
And this is just a cute picture I took tonight. Can we say adorable!

Ghost Mommy!

Someone has been watching too much Scooby Doo. Look what Jack made with a necklace today.
Very creative!

Weekend in Review

Well, things are beginning to look up. Jack's fever has stayed consistently down. He had been running a fever since Thursday. The highest it reached was 103. A little too scary for me. Sadly, we missed his Aunt Jay's homecoming. She is now officially a royal highness having won the coveted homecoming queen title. I wish we could have been there for her but she knows we love her and our spirits were with her. Grandma called and let us know she won which was really cute because she was crying when she called. She's so proud of her grandchildren.

Jack and Piggy were reunited today. It really was so sweet. They even played keyboard together this afternoon.
And that is soooo 80's. My niece worked on my hair today. The session was quite nice and included a head massage and thorough combing. She even added makeup to my hair. Gotta dig the little pony on top.
Hot stuff, right???

Piggy Update

Jack has been sick with a 101 - 103 fever. Grandma's updates are helping him feel better.

Note from Grandma: Piglet is waiting for you Jack, hope you get to feeling better. If you are still sick Sunday, I guess I will just have to bring Piglet up to you if that is OK.

New Set of Wheels

From Grandma:  Piglet decided to take a ride today since the weather was no nice.
I think he's trying to meet Jack half-way. Hang on Piggy. We'll see you this weekend. Watch out for Grandpa. He may put you to work!

Someone made a little pig out of himself today.

Battle of the Best Friends

The Best Friends are gearing up to see who will continue to receive the affection of their loveable hero come this weekend when Piglet returns as a true contender.
Will it be Piglet who scored a perfect 10 on this headstand?
Or Kirby who talked Jack into giving "her" a walk tonight?
The world waits.

Daily Piggy Update

Piggy is enjoying "healthy" drinks at the G&G estate.

It's a good thing Piggy's adventures are coming to an end this weekend because somebody is starting to love on Kirby a lot. Jack decided to feed him with a baby booger sucker tonight. There were no boogers inside! It was so cute. He kept putting pretend formula in the sucker, then when Kirby was finished he would put the "bottle" in the fridge. What a love bunny!

Helmet Head

I'm not a Super Bowl watcher, not even for the commercials, but I am enjoying being in a nice, warm house with family as they watch it. I had Mike buy me a beer just because. I mean it is Super Bowl Sunday. Whether I actually end up drinking the beer tonight remains to be seen. Poor Mike. He wasn't carded at the grocery store. Oh, well. Old man looks good on him.

Speechless

If you've ever met Jack, you know he's pretty verbose. The boy is hardly ever at a loss for words. During the ride to church tonight, Jack was talking about "all of us" having fun, then he started some long sentence. I was half-listening. After all, I was driving. Suddenly, Jack stopped and said, "I don't even know what I was talking about." Cracked me up. Of course, after he heard me laugh, he had to repeat it several times. A natural comedian?

Chillin' Out

Piggy continues to enjoy the high life at Grandma's and Grandpa's. As long as they don't plan a meal centering on pork chops, I think he'll continue to have the time of his life.

Hello, Piggy?

Someone has been missing his best friend piggy this week. Jack has been a pretty strong boy, but sometimes even the toughest guys break down and call their Grandma to check on their best friend.
Piggy has been living the high life at the G&G (Grandpa and Grandma) estate.

E-mail updates from Grandma have helped.

Jack,

I just want you to know that Piglet is sleeping comfortably in a nice warm bed. I am taking good care of him.

Grandma

Another e-mail let us know that Piglet is enjoying watching cartoons.
Wonder what he's been watching?

Ouch!

Evidence of Mike's black eye.

Angry Birds

Heard about this crazy computer game - Angry Birds? Mike and Jack loves this silly game. Basically, a bunch of kamikaze birds fling themselves on structures to kill pigs. Sounds thrilling, right?
Jack loves playing with Mike. Kirby, the puppy, is sometimes a source of good luck.

Uncle Bob's Retirement Party

I'm trying to play catch-up with my posts. These pictures are from my Uncle Bob's retirement party. After 40 years with the postal service, he decided to retire.
Jack made some new friends at the get-together. They played bus.
Then Jack decided to run, run, run. Every time he came around to me, he'd pause, raise his arms and start again.
Congratulations Uncle Bob!
