Of course, Jack had to have the blue trike.
Liam didn't really care. He has a very nice vintage tricycle that he received from his birth family at Christmas. Grandpa fixed it all up for him. He was just test driving the pink trike tonight for Miss Maggie who will eventually take it for a spin. Notice that Liam was "driving" with the handle bars backwards.Monday, May 21, 2012
My Expensive "Bike"
Last year, I completed the 90 Miles in 90 Days health challenge at work and because of that I was entered into a drawing. And then I won one of the top prizes - a bike or rather a gift certificate for a bike at a very nice bike shop. I should have selected the bike right away but instead I waited and guess what - the price on that bike went up $100(!!) so I had a choice to make. Select something less expensive or fork over money for the bike. You see what I selected - two over-priced tricycles for almost $250. A ridiculous price but I'm glad my choice made the kids happy. And I received a couple of dollars in change.

Weekend in Review
We had a wonderful weekend. On Sunday, we finally traveled to see Jack's birth family. I say "finally" because Jack has been asking me when he could see his birth family ever since we saw Liam's family at Easter. I always tell Jack's family to give us an excuse to visit them as opposed to us inviting ourselves over. This weekend, we celebrated the graduation of one of Jack's uncles and a cousin.
Here they are leading the family in prayer.
Both graduates were thrown in the pool - a tradition that's funny when you're not the one being thrown in. They knew it was coming. Still, it's a good thing they're such good sports.
Mike and Jack braved the cool water.
Maggie, Matthew and I stayed dry. Liam actually went in the water for a little while.Look at my boy - already sprouting a moustache.
This is what Liam preferred to do - he loves these cozy coupes.
Matthew is getting so big!
Congratulations Parker!

A Bit Graphic
I'm producing a story about E. Coli and needed a graphic to indicate a sick person. Which one would you have chosen?
Graphic A
Graphic B
Sadly, we went with Graphic B.

Look Out!
This guy on one of the major roads around here has got some style.
Orange you glad that gawking (and taking your eyes off the road) doesn't cause an accident?
I really do think he's cool though. Very creative.
Goofy Girl
I think my little girl must take after me. Now all I need is for one of my sons to one day tell her to leave me alone because she's having such a goofy influence on me. Then I really will have become my mother.

Three Men (Minus One) And a Baby (Doll)
I bought Miss Maggie a Baby Alive doll that cries, wets and pees. Look who ended up playing with it. I am thrilled with my purchase. It reminds me of the baby I had when I was a girl: a Wet and Care doll.
She drank from a bottle, then wet her diaper and developed a rash on her bum. Unfortunately the formula packets that caused the rash and the special wipes that made it go away eventually ran out but I still enjoyed playing with her. She was one of my favorites. I ended up using food coloring to make her tooshie red. Those were the days.

You got mousse and squirrel in there.
Do you remember that line from Will & Grace? I think I saw it dozens of times in a commercial promoting the syndicated runs of the show. I had a moment like that the other day. My co-worker was shooting a segment with me, one of those rare moments when I was on camera. He pointed to my head. "You know that area is dark and that part's light, right?" Yes, it's true. I hadn't received highlights since I found out I was pregnant so my rusty shade was returning but still, I can't believe he just came out and said it. Can you?

The Supermoon
Shots taken at mom and dad's farm.
This photo looks a bit tropical - if only.
Chillin' with my babies. Maggie adores Matthew. I'm sure the feeling is mutual. |

Telly Outtakes
One of my friends at the city took some "serious" photos of me and my award for an employee newsletter. Then the real fun began.
"Give to me your metal. Take from me my lace."
Raise your hand if you're sure.
Does this trophy make my butt look big?
Telly dreamin'.
Neck: "And now for my next disappearing act."
Lovin' the sunshine!

If It Weren't For Bad Luck...
I'd have no luck with the cell phones in my life.
In the past few months, I've had cell phones land in the toilet and the garbage disposal.
Here's hoping that the bath and bean mask that my cell enjoyed last night in the garbage disposal are not sending my month old cell phone to an early grave.
Oh, God No, My Acne Is Back...and other reasons why I wish I was still pregnant
I had a wonderful pregnancy. Sure, there were a couple of things that happened during those 9.5 months that were a little unnerving but all-in-all, I was very lucky.
Here are the reasons I wish I was still pregnant...
1. The return of acne. So soon we meet again.
2. Having a belly like Santa's that "shook when he laughed like a bowl of jelly."
3. The dark parenthesis (stretch marks) on my belly.
4. A nice place to rest my arms.
5. Weekly ultrasounds
6. The excitement of not knowing when baby Matthew would arrive.
7. And the number one reason - feeling my son move within me.
And here are the reasons I'm glad that I'm not pregnant...
1. Hourly trips to the bathroom. (I feel like I have a guy's bladder now in comparison to what I experienced during pregnancy.)
2. The unnerving things that occurred during pregnancy
3. The delivery pain
4. The cervix check - oweechie.
5. The ability to walk up hills and take stairs faster than a turtle. 6. And the number one reason: baby Matthew in my life.
